Where is 3DL now?
3DL emerged from 15 years of local and international projects in the government, non-profit, and private sector, interdisciplinary research, and expansive dialogue. It increasingly became clear that addressing the complex challenges of climate change doesn’t merely require new policies and technocratic solutions, but new governance systems. In 2022, when the UN predicted that we were already crossing the “threshold of no return” of 1.5 degrees of increased temperature and would likely reach 3 degrees by the end of a century, thought leaders from multiple continents started a specific conversation around how communities can empower their own future in a 3-degree hotter world.
After two years of conceptual design, review and feedback, and the experimental development of dinner series models across continents, it is time to put 3DL to action. We seek seed funding to build a full-time staff and contract digital twin technology, find partner institutions, and identify 3-5 pioneer communities to serve as the initial 3DL cohort.
